Dayenu is traditionally sung at a Jewish Passover seder. The original lyrics reflect upon God’s works toward Israel in the Exodus from Egypt and the giving of the Law.

The chorus says, “It would have been enough for us.” To be sure, our salvation rests in the work of Jesus the Messiah. Only He is “enough for us.”

Consider these alternate lyrics which celebrate the redemption we have in the Lord Jesus:

God is gracious and forgiving,
He loved us while we were sinners,
He delivered us from judgment — dayenu!

Chorus: Dai- dayenu!

God has sent for us Messiah,
He gave us His Son Y’shua,
In His name we have salvation — dayenu!

God is faithful to His promise,
He sent us His Holy Spirit,
in Him we are sealed forever — dayenu!

Praise the Lord for He is go-od,
thank Him for His lovingkindness.
We will be with Him in glory — dayenu!
